Whew. Weekend. Done.
Daaaang. So much drawing this weekend! So, what I had to do was at least 3 sketches of my Illustrations for my Little Red Ridinghood, at least 3 sketches of our proposal for our webpages, and 3 sketches for my Illustration based off of an article( eh-heh the only one I haven't done yet...I still have time). So, I was feeling a bit down on my luck on Thursday because I really didn't feel I did well on that butterfly piece (yea, see blog post before this) but now I'm feeling a little better about myself. I think I was just in a bad mood. So, without further adeiu, here are sketchesss! (Oh yea! And some test animations that I said I'd put in my last post but decided agaiiiinst.)
Little Red Ridinghood
So, these are all shots of the interior of Grandmother Gang Leader's House. Old fashioned, antique, a little colonial, a little Victorian( Gothic and Baroque), and still not quite highly decorated enough. Hey, I'm only one girl with one weekend that has to be split about five ways. I think it's a good start, anyway. ONWARD!
Webdesign. These are not the final designs, just sketches for the layout. I feel that the boarder I want to create will be very crisp, clean, and somewhat faded into the background. I really want a personalized site that invites and welcomes my viewers. I'm all about making connections and portraying myself as a very easy going (and easy to get along with) person!
Last but not least I did try my hand at a little cell shading, took a few hours (I was watching all the starwars things on Adult Swim last night) and finally, finally drew Errandis. The owner of the character is quite happy with the outcome as am I. I had fun with the little shapes of light and shadow in the clothing and hair. I have some improvement to be made on the hands but whatever!
So, that was about the biggest freakin' post I've ever made and probably will ever make. Well, maybe for the next two weeks. I appreciate your views and even your comments (if you guys ever made any!). I did make a tumblr, so if you are tired of all my talking, I just post images on there. ringaroundcapozzi.tumblr.com. Ta-ta!

It's a little hard to see, but that's okay. You'll all see it when it's nice and tidy :D
Introduction to 3D Animation. So we're using Maya to do our animations and so far we've done a few very, very simple animations. Oh my gosh, Maya is so confusing. Menus for your Menus for your Menus. seriously. I don't think I could have gotten any sort of hold on this program without help from a teacher. Seriously. Interface is so confusing. However, I think I'll get the hang of it. I can't wait until we do rendering and props...I think I'll like that more than animating! Here are a few of my very, very short and crappy Playblasts.

Week Two
Oh man am I tired. It's been two weeks of classes and I'm just feeling exhausted. Going from having all the time in the world to no time at all is really quite a shock. It will be interesting how the next 14 weeks are going to be playing out as projects begin to over lap and I have to budget my time.
I've now turned in my first project of the semester and I'm really not satisfied at all. I am now beginning to doubt myself in every aspect of making art, whether or not I can actually make art that is sellable or printable. I'm trying to network more, broaden my horizons but It's just so discouraging when looking at 13 other pieces of art from my contemporaries who had the same amount of time and the same problem to solve and they did it so much better. Smarter design, better drawings, contemporary look and feel. Maybe it's time to somehow come up with another style, do something different because I dont see anything that I have as a viable portfolio that can be directed at any of my potential clients of Merchandising, Editorial, or Conceptual.
So, here is my stain glass butterfly...I will have to revise it or something...as of right now I'm putting it up to just start off. Even if it's not exactly on the right foot. I've got lots of sketches to do this weekend so perhaps on Monday or Tuesday I'll get up all those ideas and hopefully feel better about myself and what can accomplish. I guess I have some soul searching to do.
I also did some basic modeling and animation in Maya. I'll upload them later too, laptop is about to die and I'm tired as heck. Probably couldn't find my flash drive if it was sitting in front of me.

Semester Starts With a Boom!
Alright! I just had my first week of classes and let me tell you, I've got a lot of work ahead of me. If I don't die before Midterm, I'd be amaaazed. Anyway, I've already got homework and started on a few things so here is what I have. I also finished more Girls but I can't post them until my mom gets them in the mail(I'll be mailing them next week!!) Anyhoo...
Project 1 in Digital Illustration: Redesign Little Red Ridinghood. Okay, I was terrified at first, until I got a theme I wanted. It's Steampunk/Western! My sketches are really vague about the placement of the familiar steampunk items, when I get to digitally painting them I'll fill all those yummy details in!
I'll give you the sketches individually, they're low res...sorry :/

I know, I'm actually using a pencil for these things, it's scaring me too! Anyhow, not exactly sure if I like the drawings or not, still kind of upset about a lack of interesting style and struggling with anatomy becuase I'm a noob and haven't been practicing. *Sigh* oh well.
Here is project 1 for my Illustration 3 class. We had to design an editorial image to go along with an article that was really confusing about a book that isn't even out yet. Yikes! Well, I came up with this and the limitations of the assignemnt are limited pallet. So, I'm thinking black and white with blues/teals. It's of a stainglass butterfly having the light reflect on the surface and show vague/surreal maps of London, Berlin, and Ethiopia. Very, very vague maps. :) I also need to tweak the butterfly before I go in and paint it...so I know it's off.
And, I did a little doodle of Daerua cause I just can't get enough! She's so fun to draw. I really need to draw Errandis the right waaay. Sorrry friend! D:
Update again next week! See you later!

Girls!
Yup, so I decided I was pretty done with digital work...well...for now. Probably pick it back up in the next week. Instead, I picked up my sketchbook and sketched.
So, here is the first one...I'm calling Cherry Blossom. I drew it out and then I scanned it in, blew it up, printed it out, and drew on top of it. Twice. I didn't really know what I was doing. It was fun though!
Here is the second one...Akebono Tulip I knew a bit better what I wanted to do, something simple and flowy. I'll probably add to it at another time.

Sylvanas...
Oh god, this piece is killing me! I really took on a lot of stuff here and I'm still not done, nowhere near where I thought I'd be but I wanted to give you guys an update. I'm not sure if this is what it's going to look like but I was messing around with what I do have and it's kind of interesting. Probably not what I'm going to do but hey! Whatever. It's an update.
I'm about 80% ish?

Aaaand, I doodled mine and my friend's RP characters. My character is Daerua again! And his character is Errandis! Aw, how sweet. I know.

2012
Wow! I can't believe it's the new year already! As you can tell I finally was able to break away from drawing non-stop for about two weeks. Okay, less than that, but still. It was a much needed break to get my umph back! I have been trying to relax and think through just what I want to accomplish. I just want to improve this year. I want this to be the best art year for me yet! Here's to 2012! *cheers*
Anyway, I've been working on this piece of fanart on and off for the past few days and I thought I'd upload a little teaser! I know a few of you have been curious as to what I've been up to with this Sylvanas picture I keep complaining about.
That's right, I'm doing Sylvanas in her Cataclysm armor. It's driving me nuts. Anyway, I have much more work to do and I wanted to get it done by tomorrow but I dont really see that happening since I decided napping and fucking around on Youtube was a better idea than painting :D
Here it is! the WIP of "I Am Forsaken"

Finals week
Well, here it is. Finals week. I've been lucky and had some time off of work to relax and work on my last few projects as well as get studying for my final exam on thur (yikes!). In the mean time I've been catching up with my friends, doing some writing, and doodling... a lot. Here I thought I was all drawn out and all I can do right now is draw, draw, draw....
So, I thought I'd share something with you guys. I had fun with it, it's extremely experimental but I felt like it was taking on the same vibe as my Gyspy and Nix piece. Myserious! ooo!!
This is my character Daerua...she's summoning...a...bright purple blob! Oh noooes! Cower! Or something. I dunno. I found some new brushes so I was testing them out. Haha. Little over 3 hours from sketch to what I'm calling finished color. I know there are some issues (mainly the feet which are driving me nuts but I dont want to fix cause my hand hurts from clenching my pen).
Here :D

And So It Comes to a Close...
I can proudly say I am just about done with my first semester of my last year. With 2/4 projects completed, I am heading into finals week a little less stressed....key word 'little'. Anyway, I'm completely unsatisfied with the print quality from Kinko's and should probably find another place to print my stuff out...but I'm currently poor and Kinko's is right around the corner. However, I do have my eyes on two different printers to invest in after graduation.
The first is the Epson Stylus Photo R3000 13" printer. My teacher has the R2400 and it produces amaaaazing prints. Waaay better than anything I got from Kinkos and is priced at 849.99....though it's on sale right now for 649.99 and if I didn't have a car payment, I'd be all over that. The second one is the HP Design Jet 111 24" printer for 895.00. The advantage to the HP is that's it's bigger and is a roll printer, meaning I could print really long stuff if I wanted! The disadvantage is I haven't seen it print anything! So, We'll see. Maybe something will come out in the next few months that'll top even that. I still have my eyes on the Wacom Cintiq, which just got a new upgrade to HD! How awesome...but also 2500.00. PAH. So much money I don't have. Soon enough, though. Soon enough.
So, without further adieu I have some projects to fill you guys in on!
My last project for my Composition class came out shy of what I was hoping to produce. Something got lost in my vision, and I think it was stress related. Perhaps if this was the third or fourth project it could have come out better. Inspired by "When the Day met the Night" by Panic! At The Disco. This print came out terrible. :(
So, that's that. I'm taking a little break and then getting back to work! Only have a few days left to finish that self portrait! Ack!

Next, we have the final project for my illustration class where we had to pick a square or squarish format and ...illustrate! I chose soap boxes. Here are my tropical scents! I realize they're a little...bright. I'll fix that later. Also, they weren't intentionally color coordinated. It just worked out that way! As you can see, I tried something REALLY different and actually quite...mainstream. A lot of artists are taking to this approach of doing digital manipulations to their existing drawings. I used parts of old sketches, drew right in Photoshop, and messed with the layer properties to create different effects!
I really like this approach, it's really easy and fast. Haha. Plus, I still get to do some line work and that makes me happy!
Here is the one I'm not finished with, as far as drawing pictures goes. I'm still unhappy with it, unsure of how I'm going to do the hair and put more detailing into the face to match the hands. Gah, I dunno.
"Pandora"
The prototype for my website is all good and done. I actually like the way it came out. Here are some pages. All the buttons are hand written and then scanned into Photoshop. I decided to use the octopus lady as my banner cause I like her so much! Anyway, this is what some of it looks like....
